Durfee Room

The Empire-style, ornately carved four-poster queen size bedstead is the focal point of this handsome room at our inn. Classic dark mahogany furnishings and detailed period paneling take you back to an era of luxurious living.

This room, located on the second floor at the front of the house, has been named for the original owner, Samuel Durfee. The private bathroom with a shower is appointed with a separate vanity area.

My husband and I stayed at the historic Samuel Durfee House for our honeymoon in Newport, RI. It was the best inn we could have asked for! The inn is in a great location, central to all the great attractions, and has parking available, so we didn't have to worry about our car. We stayed in the Perry Room, which was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed. The hosts were wonderful! They made us feel very welcome and helped us plan a very memorable trip.

Located at the rear of the second floor, this peaceful room is furnished with a queen size four poster mahogany bed. The private bathroom has a pedestal sink and stand-up shower.

This room also features it’s own private deck. The Perry Room is named after the Newport War of 1812 Naval Hero, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry.

A beautiful historic inn in the heart of Newport, RI, with parking. The hosts really go above and beyond in providing a warm and inviting environment for couples and anniversary getaways. This is the best inn in Newport for a romantic getaway, and we plan on returning!

Ida Lewis Room

This stunning room features a king size mahogany bed and has been named after the famous Newport lighthouse keeper, Ida Lewis. It is located on the second floor.

The private deck, a perfect retreat for morning coffee and afternoon relaxation, overlooks the rear garden and carriage house at our inn. The bright private bathroom has a pedestal sink and shower.

We had a wonderful stay at the Samuel Durfee Inn, a charming inn in downtown Newport, Rhode Island (RI). Our room was immaculate, cozy, and spacious, and the owners were so lovely and helpful. We loved being able to walk to all the popular attractions, such as the Cliffwalk and the historic mansions. We would definitely recommend the Samuel Durfee Inn for couples looking for a romantic getaway or an anniversary celebration. It was the best!

This sunny suite features a king size bed and powder room in the bedroom. A short hallway within the suite takes you to a full-size bathroom with pedestal sink and whirlpool tub/shower combination.

It is beautifully appointed with a king size mahogany four-poster bed. This suite has a small sitting room and private deck. The spacious private bathroom has a pedestal sink and shower.

A Perfect Babymoon Getaway in Newport We were looking for a cozy and convenient place to stay for our babymoon, and we found the perfect spot at Samuel Durfee House. The inn is located in the heart of downtown Newport, making it an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. And being 7 months pregnant, I really appreciated being able to walk everywhere. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful, and they had great recommendations for things to do in the area. We especially enjoyed exploring the Cliffwalk and visiting some of the historic mansions. Newport is a hidden gem, and we would definitely recommend it for a babymoon getaway. Samuel Durfee House is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some quality time together before the baby arrives.
